Les tout-petits sont vuln\u00e9rables : s\u2019ils se trouvent dans une situation de danger, ils d\u00e9pendent de l\u2019intervention d\u2019un adulte pour \u00eatre mis en s\u00e9curit\u00e9. C\u2019est pourquoi la s\u00e9lection naturelle les a dot\u00e9s d\u2019un syst\u00e8me d\u2019alarme efficace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorsqu\u2019ils appellent au c\u0153ur de la nuit, ce n\u2019est donc ni par caprice ni par provocation, mais par instinct de survie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>En 2003, une \u00e9quipe de recherche australienne (10) a men\u00e9, avec toutes les pr\u00e9cautions n\u00e9cessaires, une exp\u00e9rience sur dix nourrissons \u00e2g\u00e9s de deux semaines \u00e0 six mois. Les chercheurs ont l\u00e9g\u00e8rement r\u00e9duit l\u2019apport en oxyg\u00e8ne chez des nourrissons dormant soit en phase REM, soit en phase de sommeil profond. <strong>Le r\u00e9veil des b\u00e9b\u00e9s en phase REM a \u00e9t\u00e9 imm\u00e9diat,<\/strong> tandis que celui des b\u00e9b\u00e9s en sommeil profond a n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 quelques minutes. Une plus grande proportion de sommeil l\u00e9ger et la capacit\u00e9 de se r\u00e9veiller rapidement au moindre stimulus sont des m\u00e9canismes salvateurs en cas de risque d\u2019\u00e9touffement. <strong>Avec le passage des mois,<\/strong> \u00e0 mesure que l\u2019enfant acquiert davantage d\u2019autonomie et de capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 discriminer les stimuli environnementaux, les r\u00e9veils nocturnes deviennent des r\u00e9veils partiels, semblables \u00e0 ceux de l\u2019adulte, et l\u2019enfant d\u00e9veloppe la capacit\u00e9 de se rendormir spontan\u00e9ment la plupart du temps.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Le stimulus qui r\u00e9veille le plus souvent les enfants au cours des premiers mois de vie est la faim.<\/strong> Ils sont petits, leur estomac est petit, et ils ont donc besoin de se nourrir et de boire fr\u00e9quemment, y compris la nuit. Par cons\u00e9quent, le nombre de r\u00e9veils nocturnes d\u2019un enfant allait\u00e9 est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que celui d\u2019un enfant nourri au biberon.<\/p>\n<p>Mais ce n\u2019est pas tout : selon certaines \u00e9tudes (11), les nourrissons allait\u00e9s au sein ont un sommeil plus l\u00e9ger et ont tendance \u00e0 se r\u00e9veiller plus rapidement en pr\u00e9sence d\u2019un stimulus que ceux nourris au lait infantile. Cela peut sembler un inconv\u00e9nient, mais c\u2019est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 l\u2019inverse: <strong>c\u2019est probablement l\u2019une des raisons pour lesquelles l\u2019allaitement maternel constitue un facteur protecteur contre le risque d\u2019\u00e9touffement pendant le sommeil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019inverse, le lait maternel est un puissant facilitateur de l\u2019endormissement. Outre l\u2019effet r\u00e9confortant et relaxant du contact peau \u00e0 peau, le lait maternel, en soir\u00e9e et pendant la nuit, contient une concentration plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e de <strong>tryptophanes,<\/strong> des acides amin\u00e9s qui servent de pr\u00e9curseurs \u00e0 la production de m\u00e9latonine par l\u2019organisme (12). Apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre assur\u00e9 que l\u2019enfant n\u2019a pas d\u2019autres besoins, proposer le sein \u00e0 un b\u00e9b\u00e9 qui se r\u00e9veille la nuit est un moyen rapide de l\u2019aider \u00e0 se rendormir. Avec le temps, lorsque le besoin de se nourrir la nuit dispara\u00eet, les parents trouveront d\u2019autres gestes apaisants pour l\u2019aider \u00e0 retrouver le sommeil.<\/p>\n<p>Pour toutes ces raisons et, plus g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement, en raison du besoin de contact physique qu\u2019ont les nourrissons avec l\u2019adulte, en particulier avec la m\u00e8re, le sommeil partag\u00e9 durant les premiers mois de vie est de plus en plus soutenu. L\u2019habitude de garder son b\u00e9b\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de soi la nuit, appel\u00e9e scientifiquement <em>co-sleeping<\/em>, est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandue dans toutes les cultures, car elle fait partie des soins de proximit\u00e9 : ce syst\u00e8me d\u00e9licat d\u2019attachement entre la m\u00e8re et l\u2019enfant vise \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger le nourrisson et donc \u00e0 assurer sa survie.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4728\" src=\"https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3-100x67.jpg 100w, https:\/\/babywellnessfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/3_risvegli-notturni-3-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cependant, ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, des \u00e9tudes et des recherches approfondies ont montr\u00e9 que le <em>co-sleeping<\/em> peut comporter des cons\u00e9quences tragiques en raison du risque d\u2019\u00e9touffement du b\u00e9b\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00ab In the same room, but not in the same bed \u00bb (\u00ab Dans la m\u00eame chambre, mais pas dans le m\u00eame lit \u00bb)<\/em><\/strong> est le slogan lanc\u00e9 par des institutions, des organismes de recherche, des f\u00e9d\u00e9rations de p\u00e9diatres et des experts en sant\u00e9 n\u00e9onatale du monde entier pour promouvoir le sommeil s\u00e9curis\u00e9 du nourrisson.<\/p>\n<p>Selon les experts de l\u2019American Academy of Pediatrics (13), jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019un an, il est recommand\u00e9 que le b\u00e9b\u00e9 dorme dans la m\u00eame chambre que ses parents, install\u00e9 dans son propre berceau ou lit. L\u2019enfant per\u00e7oit la pr\u00e9sence de ses parents et dort plus paisiblement, tandis que ceux-ci peuvent intervenir plus rapidement en cas de besoin.<\/p>\n<p>De plus, dormir \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 favorise l\u2019allaitement maternel et permet \u00e0 la jeune maman de r\u00e9pondre rapidement aux besoins de son b\u00e9b\u00e9, r\u00e9duisant le stress de l\u2019un et de l\u2019autre et facilitant le rendormissement.<\/p>\n<p>Dans tous les cas, dormir pr\u00e8s de sa m\u00e8re et de son p\u00e8re n\u2019est pas un caprice pour le nouveau-n\u00e9, mais un besoin et une v\u00e9ritable source de bien-\u00eatre. Y r\u00e9pondre ne compromet pas la capacit\u00e9 de l\u2019enfant \u00e0 devenir autonome et ind\u00e9pendant ; au contraire, cela signifie entrer en relation avec lui, comprendre ses besoins et y apporter des r\u00e9ponses ad\u00e9quates, ce qui lui permet de se sentir plus serein et plus en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (14).<\/p>\n\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"section\" data-elementor-id=\"25734\"
