Or, \u00eatre allait\u00e9 est tout sauf un vice : c\u2019est un puissant outil de promotion de la sant\u00e9 de l\u2019enfant et du futur adulte. C\u2019est pourquoi on pr\u00e9f\u00e8re aujourd\u2019hui \u00e9viter le terme \u00ab sevrage \u00bb et parler plut\u00f4t <strong>d&#8217;alimentation compl\u00e9mentaire<\/strong>, une expression qui clarifie mieux l\u2019objectif de cette phase de transition. Il ne s\u2019agit pas de supprimer le lait le plus rapidement possible pour le remplacer par d\u2019autres aliments suppos\u00e9s plus adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019enfant. Le lait maternel reste en effet la principale source d\u2019\u00e9nergie et de nutriments pour l\u2019enfant au moins pendant toute la premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e de vie. Apr\u00e8s six mois, il devient n\u00e9cessaire de compl\u00e9ter l\u2019alimentation par l\u2019introduction d\u2019aliments semi-liquides, sans pour autant remplacer totalement le lait (9).<\/p>\n<p>Cette phase de transition sert \u00e9galement \u00e0 habituer l\u2019enfant \u00e0 g\u00e9rer des aliments non liquides, \u00e0 utiliser les gencives, la langue et les dents pour \u00e9craser, d\u00e9placer les bouch\u00e9es dans la bouche et les avaler. Elle lui permet de d\u00e9couvrir de nouvelles saveurs, de former ses futurs go\u00fbts alimentaires et de renforcer la conscience de la faim et de la sati\u00e9t\u00e9. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une \u00e9tape de croissance tr\u00e8s importante et, sans aucun doute, \u00e9mouvante tant pour l\u2019enfant que pour ses parents, impatients de l\u2019accompagner dans la d\u00e9couverte des saveurs et du plaisir de bien manger, et d\u2019observer son expression lors des premi\u00e8res d\u00e9gustations.<\/p>\n<p>Comme pour chaque \u00e9tape du d\u00e9veloppement, le passage \u00e0 l\u2019alimentation compl\u00e9mentaire se fait selon des rythmes et des modalit\u00e9s propres \u00e0 chaque enfant. Certains sont plus prudents, voire m\u00e9fiants, d\u2019autres curieux et aventureux, certains commencent avec enthousiasme puis se ravisent\u2026 L\u2019essentiel est que le moment des premi\u00e8res pur\u00e9es ne devienne pas une source de stress : si, \u00e0 six mois, l\u2019enfant ne souhaite pas encore exp\u00e9rimenter, il le fera lorsqu\u2019il se sentira pr\u00eat, gr\u00e2ce aussi au soutien, \u00e0 la patience et \u00e0 l\u2019encouragement de sa maman et de son papa. Il ne faut donc pas s\u2019inqui\u00e9ter si l\u2019enfant ne r\u00e9agit pas imm\u00e9diatement de mani\u00e8re positive \u00e0 l\u2019introduction de nouveaux aliments, s\u2019il les refuse ou en met partout, ou s\u2019il continue \u00e0 r\u00e9clamer souvent le lait. Le processus d\u2019apprentissage et d\u2019\u00e9ducation au go\u00fbt demande du temps et ne doit jamais faire perdre le plaisir de vivre les repas dans la s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\t\t<div En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, les forcer les \u00e9loigne du plaisir de manger et nuit \u00e0 leur capacit\u00e9 naturelle d\u2019autor\u00e9gulation. Si, \u00e0 la fin du repas, la moiti\u00e9 de la pur\u00e9e reste dans l\u2019assiette, il n\u2019y a aucune raison de s\u2019inqui\u00e9ter : les portions sont peut-\u00eatre simplement trop abondantes ou l\u2019enfant est rassasi\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il faut \u00e9galement garder \u00e0 l\u2019esprit qu\u2019il n\u2019est jamais trop t\u00f4t pour commencer \u00e0 \u00e9duquer les enfants au go\u00fbt et au bien-\u00eatre \u00e0 table.<\/strong> Manger doit \u00eatre un plaisir et l\u2019enfant doit vivre les repas dans un environnement serein, sans stress ni tensions. Le climat dans lequel les repas sont pr\u00e9par\u00e9s est donc d\u00e9terminant, tout comme la tranquillit\u00e9 des parents qui accompagnent l\u2019enfant dans ses premi\u00e8res d\u00e9gustations, mais aussi ce que l\u2019enfant observe et vit autour de la table lorsque la famille se r\u00e9unit. Lorsque l\u2019enfant commence les premi\u00e8res pur\u00e9es, il est judicieux de ne pas l\u2019isoler, mais de l\u2019installer r\u00e9ellement \u00e0 table avec les autres, afin qu\u2019il puisse partager les moments des repas avec le reste de la famille, sans la distraction de la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, des tablettes ou des jouets. Le simple fait d\u2019\u00eatre ensemble, de partager ces moments dans l\u2019harmonie, \u00e9duque l\u2019enfant \u2014 plus que toute autre chose \u2014 au go\u00fbt, mais aussi au plaisir de manger.
