The following practical recommendations help prevent overheating, protect their delicate skin, and ensure adequate hydration.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"background-color: #e8eff4; color: white; padding: 5px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #006271;\">Sun Exposure and Outdoor Environment<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"w7jnlo\" data-start=\"383\" data-end=\"646\">Never leave a newborn or child alone in a car under the sun. The temperature inside a vehicle can rise rapidly, and <strong data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"517\">hyperthermia<\/strong> in children can occur in as little as <strong data-start=\"556\" data-end=\"570\">20 minutes<\/strong> (the use of an anti-abandonment device is mandatory where required by law).<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"5nx6ak\" data-start=\"648\" data-end=\"808\"><strong data-start=\"650\" data-end=\"662\">Warning:<\/strong> hyperthermia can occur even on mild days, with temperatures around <strong data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"745\">22\u00b0C (72\u00b0F)<\/strong>. The interior of a vehicle can easily exceed <strong data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"807\">40\u00b0C (104\u00b0F)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"fmuglh\" data-start=\"810\" data-end=\"1015\">Keep in mind that during the summer, solar radiation is more intense and the risk of <strong data-start=\"897\" data-end=\"908\">sunburn<\/strong> is higher in mountainous areas and in environments with reflective surfaces such as snow, water, and sand.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1py4vdu\" data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1129\">Windy or cloudy conditions may actually increase the risk of sunburn because the sensation of heat is reduced.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"jgl6r4\" data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1266\">Avoid taking your newborn outdoors during the hottest hours of the day (the highest-risk period is <strong data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1264\">from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"6d0hy1\" data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1329\">Use <strong data-start=\"1274\" data-end=\"1287\">sunshades<\/strong> to protect the baby from direct sunlight.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"rhabwc\" data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1515\">Children should be exposed to <strong data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1431\">direct sunlight cautiously and only after the first year of life<\/strong>. Sunlight promotes <strong data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1464\">vitamin D<\/strong> production, but exposure should always be gradual.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"9jxyi7\" data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1891\">Families living in urban areas should be aware of the potential risks associated with <strong data-start=\"1605\" data-end=\"1626\">high ozone levels<\/strong>, a gas that forms during the hottest hours of the day and can irritate the respiratory tract. Young children, particularly those with asthma, are especially sensitive. In general, it is preferable to go outdoors in the morning, when ozone concentrations are lower.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"background-color: #e8eff4; color: white; padding: 5px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #006271;\">Skin Protection<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"cxuy2a\" data-start=\"1922\" data-end=\"2196\">Always use <strong data-start=\"1935\" data-end=\"1964\">high-protection sunscreen<\/strong>. Choose sunscreens with <strong data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2006\">SPF 50 or 50+<\/strong> that provide protection against both <strong data-start=\"2044\" data-end=\"2064\">UVB and UVA rays<\/strong>, applying an adequate amount (for adults, the recommended quantity is approximately <strong data-start=\"2149\" data-end=\"2161\">19 grams<\/strong>, equivalent to <strong data-start=\"2177\" data-end=\"2194\">3\u20134 teaspoons<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"11h2bbw\" data-start=\"2198\" data-end=\"2400\">Sunscreen should be applied <strong data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2271\">at least 15 minutes before sun exposure<\/strong>, reapplied every <strong data-start=\"2289\" data-end=\"2302\">two hours<\/strong>, and always after swimming or heavy sweating, even if the product is labeled <strong data-start=\"2380\" data-end=\"2399\">water-resistant<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"17xc6ze\" data-start=\"2402\" data-end=\"2647\">Remember that <strong data-start=\"2418\" data-end=\"2468\">UV rays penetrate clothing and beach umbrellas<\/strong>; therefore, sunscreen should also be applied when staying in the shade. Sun protection should be used not only at the beach or in the mountains, but whenever a child is outdoors.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"wpvahw\" data-start=\"2649\" data-end=\"2874\"><strong data-start=\"2651\" data-end=\"2662\">Sunburn<\/strong> often appears several hours after sun exposure and not only when the skin becomes visibly red. Children with <strong data-start=\"2772\" data-end=\"2790\">very fair skin<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2795\" data-end=\"2822\">red or very blonde hair<\/strong> burn more easily and require additional protection.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1ocq1ab\" data-start=\"2876\" data-end=\"3146\">Sunscreens with <strong data-start=\"2894\" data-end=\"2904\">SPF 50<\/strong> block up to approximately <strong data-start=\"2931\" data-end=\"2950\">98% of UVB rays<\/strong>. It is also important to remember that the SPF value refers only to protection against <strong data-start=\"3038\" data-end=\"3055\">UVB radiation<\/strong>, not <strong data-start=\"3061\" data-end=\"3073\">UVA rays<\/strong>, which penetrate more deeply into the skin and contribute to skin aging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"background-color: #e8eff4; color: white; padding: 5px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #006271;\">Hydration and Nutrition<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"15bow8t\" data-start=\"32\" data-end=\"273\">Newborns should be <strong data-start=\"53\" data-end=\"82\">breastfed more frequently<\/strong> to ensure adequate fluid intake. Mothers are also advised to drink <strong data-start=\"150\" data-end=\"176\">more fluids than usual<\/strong>, not to alter the composition of their breast milk, but to avoid becoming dehydrated themselves.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"urg3f7\" data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"461\">To prevent dehydration, children should be offered fluids frequently: <strong data-start=\"347\" data-end=\"373\">room-temperature water<\/strong>, given in <strong data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"398\">small sips<\/strong>.
